Healthy Children Are Our Top Priority
Welcome to Our Practice
Personal Pediatrics is an innovative and unique Direct Primary Care practice that provides personalized care in the comfort of your home. We draw on the values of old-fashioned medicine - in the time of house calls and small-town doctors, and before the days of complicated phone triage systems. We then bring those values to the busy modern family who does not have unlimited time to sit in crowded waiting rooms for a 15-minute visit which can feel rushed and inadequate. We offer various services including comprehensive primary care, vaccinations, physicals, and pediatric urgent care in the privacy of your home.
By limiting the size of the practice to a minute fraction of the panel that most pediatricians manage, Dr. Mame gets to know you and your children personally, which ultimately results in better care. You will be able to call or text her directly - any time of day or night - because children don’t often get sick on schedule. And when you call or schedule a visit, we can devote close, thorough, and timely attention to any issue at hand.
Dr. Mame is a board-certified pediatrician with more than a decade of experience. Just as importantly, she has her own busy family and understands all too well the ups and downs of parenthood and the worry, joy, and frustration that often goes along with it. She places a premium on quality and convenience in managing her own family and strives to bring that same quality and convenience to your children’s health.
By doing checkups and urgent care visits in the comfort of your home, Dr. Mame can better assess the development of young children in their natural environments, which can decrease the fear that is often associated with a traditional doctor’s office visit. Personal Pediatrics is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) model in which you pay a yearly membership fee that ensures direct access to your doctor and high-quality thorough care that works around your schedule. We do not bill insurance companies. They still play an important but secondary role, helping to cover associated costs such as lab work or imaging, specialist care, and emergency room visits or hospital stays when necessary. By remaining out of network, we at Personal Pediatrics can collaborate with you to make important decisions about your child’s health without interference from insurers. As a result, the quality of care is unsurpassed.
Dr. Mame Wilson is a board-certified pediatrician with experience in a variety of different settings including underserved communities, a large busy suburban practice and newborn hospital care. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science from Harvard. She then graduated and spent 3 years skiing in Aspen, Colorado before deciding that she ultimately wanted to go into medicine. There was never any question about what kind of medicine she would pursue. Having always worked with children or adolescents in some capacity - whether babysitting, teaching skiing, or coaching college rowing - she knew from the moment she started medical school that she wanted to take care of children and adolescents. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester and completed a residency in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital
Mame grew up in Duxbury, Massachusetts where she now lives with her husband and three children, and their 10-year-old golden retriever. They live in a 300-year-old house where the floors are uneven and there is always another project on the horizon. She enjoys running (usually very early in the morning with a headlamp and her dog), biking the beach at low tide, rowing, spending long summer days on the boat in Duxbury Bay, and skiing as much as possible in the winter. She is the medical consultant for Pilgrim Childcare and Preschool and she volunteers every spring to talk to the 5th graders in town about puberty (to the horror of her now 5th-grade daughter!)
She is drawn to direct patient care because she never quite felt like she had enough time to spend with each of her patients while working in a more traditional practice. What she loves most about pediatrics is getting to know her patients and their families, and doing what is best for them, despite the confines of insurance regulations. She believes strongly in parental instincts and places great value in talking to parents and listening to their concerns. She loves watching children grow and seeing how they develop over the course of their young lives. She feels privileged to work with her patients’ families, building strong relationships with the shared goal of optimal health for their children.
